Home My Thoughts You Are Not Alone

You Are Not Alone

by David Jordan

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… To let the oppressed go free … (Luke 4:19).

We need not meet our daily struggles alone.  We can face what confronts us on our own terms, with perspective, faith, perseverance, and a deep understanding of our true strengths and potential. Hear my mother’s perspective from one of her hymns:

Turn from yesterdays of anguish,

Leave behind the painful past.

Sin and strife one day will vanish,

Christ our Lord will reign at last!

Humbly now we ask forgiveness,

Humbly now we kneel in prayer,

Resting in his loving Presence,

Trusting in is gracious care.

—Diane Jordan, from “Celebrate with Joyful Singing”

Make this day one of calm reassurance.  You need not feel oppressed by whatever it is that weighs you down. Your life is filled with unlimited potential—because you are not the only one in charge; Jesus has come to set you free. Claim this truth today.
