MIRACULOUS POSSIBILITIES

Enthusiasm overcame him and
Leaping from the boat he
Discovered his miracle:
Attention focused
Faith unburdened
Eyes uplifted
Motivation directed
Toward holiness.
Unselfish and pure,
Filled with wonder,
A lightness of being
In surprise and joy.
But temporary.
Peter thinks too hard about
This miraculous impossibility;
He lowers his sight
Ponders his faith and
Realigns his goals from:
Meeting Jesus
To:
Not sinking…
Therefore, loosing his lightness.
And so it is with us, it seems;
Except when rescued by stronger faith,
Our sinking, saved in spite of ourselves
Lifted for deeper lessons and
Higher opportunities to
Lighten the being and
Broaden the faith of others
Like ourselves…
And Peter:
Human beings,
Better than we know
Lighter than we believe…
With the miraculous possibilities
Of faith.
