GREAT DISCOVERIES

So much has changed since time was marked in years.

The sun no longer moves across the sky,

But earth instead was finally found to fly.

It seems so strange what now allays the fears

That plagued the ancients every waking day.

Science showed us the reason seasons change.

The tilt of earth and hemispheres arrange

So ice and winter’s breeze, they do not stay,

But head south for a new cold season there.

New continents, we now know oceans end.

In former years we thought horizon’s bend

Completed earth, yet knew not fully where.

And I’ve discovered, too, a truth in life…

I’ve found a life-long gift: my loving wife.
